Among the municipal areas of Ragusa and Scicli near the coast, there is one of the rare examples in Sicily of Marine Protected Nature Reserve, where the flora and fauna are preserved and safeguarded in their integrity. Cava dei Servi is a spectacular river valley excavated by the Tellesimo stream, in an area between Modica and Ragusa, more precisely in San Giacomo.
It is thought that the name Cava dei Servi is linked to the theory that the Servants of God were here. Other sources, however, claim that the name “Servi” is to be associated with the fact that the less wealthy families, belonging to the lower social ranks, lived here.

When we talk about Ispica, we immediately think of Cava d’Ispica, one of the most fascinating archaeological and natural areas in all south-eastern Sicily. There is an area near Ispica, however, which is inexplicably left to itself, as if all citizens had completely forgotten about its existence.

Sampieri is a small seaside village located about ten kilometers from Scicli. Initially a fishing village, this village had in the last few years an increasing interest so much to be a destination for tourists from Italy and abroad.A strong point not to be overlooked of this village is the beach, characterized by a fine and soft sand like that of the desert. The majestic dunes are the main features, from whose top you can have a magnificent view over the whole coast.
