Cava dei Servi: a hidden pearl between Modica and Ragusa

Cava dei Servi is a spectacular river valley excavated by the Tellesimo stream, in an area between Modica and Ragusa, more precisely in San Giacomo.
It is thought that the name Cava dei Servi is linked to the theory that the Servants of God were here. Other sources, however, claim that the name “Servi” is to be associated with the fact that the less wealthy families, belonging to the lower social ranks, lived here.
