Hi nice people! Today I want to take you to a truly fascinating naturalistic place located in the province of Ragusa, in particular halfway between Ragusa and Giarratana 🙂
I’m talking about the Lake of Santa Rosalia, an artificial basin built between the 1950s and 1960s for irrigation, interrupting part of the course of Irminio river.

Despite the numerous initial protests by the local population, thinking of a possible territorial disintegration, the lake is now shown to us as a perfect natural habitat, where numerous species of animals and plants have adapted perfectly to the surrounding environment.

The lake, better known as dam, is perfect for a carefree walk or a weekend picnic with your family. Who knows, maybe on one of these occasions, looking up, there will be the possibility of eyeing a kestrel or a red kite.

To you
